A 4.8 earthquake shook the Tri-state area this morning. Sam and Devon live in Brooklyn. They definitely felt the quake. Californians can laugh at us East Coast folks all they want about our reactions, but we do feel quakes more and in a wider area. The 5.8 central Virginia quake in 2011 was felt in Boston and Charleston, South Carolina. The quakes tend to be very shallow, so anything stronger than a 3 is going to get our attention. Sam spent the day covering the news (still at Spectrum, he starts at ABC soon). Devon and her students had to get under their desks! No damage or injuries reported in the area, but there were a lot of rattled nerves. And the poor pets! I bet Astro and Truman were upset (no idea how their bunnies would react to earthquakes)! I remember how kitten Rory hid for almost two days after the Virginia quake. Astro is still a puppy. A very big baby. I bet he was super clingy when Sam and Devon got home!

This day won't be forgotten anytime soon. And there's going to be a solar eclipse on the 8th- it will be total in many areas including New York!
