That's 50 in Roman numerals. ;) Yes, I am officially 50. I share a birth year with Disney World, Hard Rock Cafe, Starbucks,
and Malibu Barbie! I keep saying it, but I'm glad I made it this far. Three years ago, in the middle of chemo, I wasn't sure I'd still be here.

My birthday celebration was on Saturday, because Katie left for the beach yesterday. We went to one of my favorite local restaurants (Can Can has to wait until Friday), had a Carvel ice cream cake, my traditional Krispy Kreme birthday donuts, and most of my presents. I am ready for Disney World with my new Loungefly Minnie Mouse backpack and wristlet, plus Minnie Mouse ears!

I was given the altar flowers after church. Fair enough, I did share my donuts at coffee hour.

It's a good thing my pre-birthday weekend was great, because my actual birthday today kinda sucked. My mom spent today in the ER. She had been having problems with her eyes since Friday. She had brief periods when her eyes weren't working together, almost like being cross-eyed. She briefly passed out this morning. They've done an MRI to rule out a stroke and are keeping her overnight for observation. Since I'm at Katie's, there was nothing I could do. So I spent my birthday worrying about her. I don't even care about my birthday dinner, I just want Mom to be healthy. I talked to her tonight. She seemed cheerful and a bit bored. That's probably a good sign! She hasn't had any pain or anything. I'm wondering if it's a delayed reaction to her new meds. When I started a new prescription, my eyes did wonky things, too.

At least Giada is being a good dog. Spending time with that sweet girl makes me happy.
