The only photo I had easy access to with my cousins (minus cousin Mike). From the summer of 1988. I wanted to put up something with Debbie in it. She's on the top left, holding our cousin Sarah. I'm on the right, holding the youngest cousin, Amelia. Amelia's sisters Rachel and Alison and my sister Katie are in the middle.

Debbie and I were hellraisers together when we were little! That changed a lot once my family moved to South Dakota and then Colorado. We didn't get to see each other as often until I moved back to the East Coast. Thank God for Facebook, where we could chat almost every day. I'm still stunned about today. She never hinted about how things really were for her. I knew things weren't right, but she was very evasive. I think that's why she created our cousins' page, so her husband would be less likely to read it, and she could talk more freely. But no one was expecting this.

I was just thinking that I was about to start working on her Christmas present soon. She was a Coca Cola memorabilia collector, so I was going to make a wreath with silver and red mesh, and Coke ornaments. I'll never forget her love of her dogs, Coke, Bon Jovi, and Krispy Kreme donuts.

I hadn't seen her in person since my brother-in-law's funeral four years ago. I kept planning to go to Rhode Island, but I got sick and couldn't travel for two years. Then COVID-19 and Katie's cancer happened. It's going to be tough. And now we can't go up there because it's still too risky to travel.

We love you, Debbie. I hope you knew that.
