Yesterday I spent almost six hours in an outpatient infusion center. The first hour was checking in, and getting my port set up. I was given infusions of Benadryl and mild steroids before the main event. Three hours of a Taxol infusion. The Benadryl made me sleepy so I got a nice nap. Then there was an hour of Carboplatin, a saline flush for my port, and then I was done. I felt well enough to shop at Dillard's and have dinner before going home. I had a good night's sleep. So far, no nausea, only mild aches, tiredness, a little shaking. My hair won't start falling out for a few weeks, probably just before or after my second round.
Some pictures:
And so it begins. I brought Hello Kitty for moral support.
I barely felt the port.
The Taxol.
My shopping haul, or "congrats on getting through round one": A Betsey Johnson set and Deborah Lippmann nail polish.
Round Two is May 30. My bald American Girl mini-me will be ordered Friday but I won't have her until Round Three.
