I spent most of the day in the Emergency Department at Mary Washington Hospital. This morning, while I was showering, I had lower abdominal pain so bad I nearly fainted. Mom and Dad took me to the hospital, and I had a bunch of tests. First, there was blood in my urine. During a CAT scan, my bladder showed signs of inflammation. But then there appeared to be a problem with my right ovary. So then I had an ultrasound...the invasive, "trans-vaginal" kind.
The results- I have a cluster of cysts on that ovary. It needs to be checked out. I could lose it. It's probably not cancer, but I'm still terrified.
I spent the day in agony, despite being given morphine. It was very cold, and the nurses were great about giving me extra blankets. I couldn't eat or drink until the tests were done. I learned that when you've been deprived of water for six hours, nothing tastes as good as ice water! My poor mom was constantly worried.
I'm home now, still in pain despite powerful painkillers. I can't sleep. I'm still having random spasms of pain. I have to get an appointment with an OB-GYN as soon as possible. Hopefully, they'll get to the bottom of this.
So, yeah, thoughts and prayers would be nice. I'll post updates as I get them.
