Today I am very thankful for my mom. I’ve been sick since Sunday, and I haven’t been able to do as much cooking for Thanksgiving dinner as I usually do. She did almost everything herself. Fortunately we didn’t have our usual crowd of sixteen this year, just seven. But she was more concerned about me getting better than wearing myself out cooking! I managed to do some of it and did a lot of non food things (table setting, dishwashing, etc). I still feel pretty bad about it.
I was so sick I wasn’t interested in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade at all, and barely noticed the dog show after. I think I might have the flu.

Mom even did most of the pies. I did two, my chess pie and a new one, cranberry curd in a gingersnap/walnut crust. Very tasty, but tart. I really didn't eat much, but everything was good.
