Didn't go to the AMC marathon this year, but I've seen seven of the nine Best Picture nominees. The award show has been full of...no surprises. :p Director- Alfonso Cuarón for Gravity, Best Supporting Actor-Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club, Best Supporting Actress- Lupita Nyong'o for 12 Years a Slave, Best Actress- Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine, and Best Actor- Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club.
And Best Picture...12 Years a Slave! So Brad Pitt has an Oscar for producing. And Steve McQueen becomes the first black man to win an Oscar for producing the Best Picture.
Nothing for American Hustle, Nebraska, Wolf of Wall Street, Captain Phillips, or Philomena. I loved AH, but it really didn't deserve to actually win anything. Nominations, sure, but the other movies were just so much better.
