I passed the five year survival milestone. I'm still NED (no evidence of disease), and I only see my oncologist once a year. He says that I'm likely cancer-free and that the odds of recurrence are very unlikely. So as of last March, I'm an official five-year survivor!
I did have other health issues this year. Over the summer, I had a lung infection that took me out for two weeks. And then there was the emergency gallbladder removal surgery. It should have been an outpatient procedure, but of course I had complications and needed open surgery. I spent almost a whole week in the hospital, counting ER visits. Ugh. I have an idea of why I had sudden gallbladder attacks. I lost a lot of weight last year, and the week I started having attacks, I'd had an unusually high fat dinner. I will never eat pesto Alfredo again!
Hopefully, I'll have a healthier 2034.
