Not a bad weekend.

It almost was. Uncle Brad and Uncle John both came to visit for a couple of days. We had a bunch of things planned. Unfortunately for me, the visit got off to a bad start. I had a massive migraine during dinner and had to go to bed. That sucked. The next day, everyone went to Maymont in Richmond (a mansion and gardens). I was supposed to go and was looking forward to it...but my migraine lingered and I also had stomach trouble. So they went without me. They went to Can Can for lunch. At least Mom and Dad brought home my favorite dish, steak frites! It was enough for two meals. So that day sucked for me, but ended on an okay note.

The next day I felt better. This day was spent at Ferry Farm, George Washington's boyhood home. I'd never been. Like Colonial Williamsburg, all buildings and artifacts are replicas. The original house is long gone, but the foundations were discovered in the 2000s. My dad's Rotary club helped fund the excavation! And research is ongoing. There was a dig going on while we were there.

A few photos:

If little George really did chop down a cherry tree, this is where it happened! The house and some furniture and household items, Uncle John goofing around in a large fireplace, and the current dig. The volunteers are college students. Some nice views of the Rappahannock River, too.

We went to Katie's house next. Maisie loved having company! We went to Port Royal for dinner at a seafood restaurant called Randolph's. I had their fried clams. I had enough left over for a clam roll the next night!

I stayed over at Katie's to dog sit the rest of the weekend. She went to a Paul McCartney concert with friends. It was in North Carolina, so she stayed overnight. I had plenty of time to play with Maisie! I also took Evette with me. Katie has renovated the guest room. It looks great and was comfortable.

I did a photo shoot with Evette in the yard. I wanted to do photos with her at the creek, but it was too hot to go there.

I love this sweet puppy!

She was very good, but missed her mommy!
